Your first time? If you are using a TOM Organic applicator tampon for the first time you might need a little practice. It may help to try them for the first time on a heavy day of your period when your vagina is well lubricated. Take a deep breath, relax and listen to your body. 1. WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY BEFORE AND AFTER INSERTING TAMPON2. Take the product out of the wrapper3. Get into a comfortable position. Most women either sit on the toilet with knees apart, squat slightly with knees bent, or stand with one foot on the toilet seat.4. Insert the applicator. Hold the outer insertion tube by the finger grip with your thumb and middle finger. With the removal string hanging down, insert the tip of the applicator into your vagina at a slight upward angle, approximately a 45 degree angle (see image 1). Slide the outer insertion tube all the way into your vagina until your fingers touch your body.  5. Push the tampon inside. Push the inner tube with your pointer finger all the way into the outer tube, or use your other hand to push the inner tube (see image 2).6. Remove the inner and outer applicator tubes at the same time. (see image 3). The tampon should now be comfortably inside you, with the removal string hanging outside your body. When a tampon is inserted correctly you shouldn’t feel any discomfort or pressure. Note: A TOM tampon cannot fall out because it is held in place by the muscles at the vaginal opening. It will not become lost because the opening of the cervix is far too small to allow a tampon to pass through.7. Have I inserted my TOM tampon correctly?A TOM tampon cannot be felt if it has been inserted correctly, so if you feel discomfort or pressure, the tampon may not have been inserted properly or be far enough inside the vagina. Relax and push the tampon in further or simply try again with a new one. Do not insert a tampon if it hurts to do so and never insert more than one tampon at a time.8. When to change your TOM tampon?If you pull gently on the cord you will be able to tell if it is time to change. If the TOM tampon does not move, it is not saturated and there is no need to change. Though your needs will depend on your individual flow, you should change your tampon 4-6 times per day. Never leave a tampon in for more than eight (8) hours at a time. We recommend that on each day of your period you use the lowest absorbency tampon needed to suit a light, medium or heavy flow.9. Removing the TOM tampon.Simply pull the withdrawal cord at the same angle the tampon was inserted. Always remove the current tampon before inserting a new one. If you should ever have trouble finding the cord, the tampon can be reached easily from a squatting position.10. Remove the last tampon used at the end of your period.
